FIRA publishes findings from UK Furniture Unsold Goods Survey 2026
The Furniture Industry Research Association (FIRA) has published a new report, UK Furniture Industry Unsold Furniture Survey 2026, examining current practices relating to unsold furniture across the sector.
The report has been produced to support the development of evidence in response to ongoing policy activity, including a Scottish Government consultation on measures to prevent the destruction of unsold consumer goods, as well as wider developments such as the EU Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR).
To contribute to this evidence base, FIRA surveyed industry stakeholders across the furniture supply chain. The survey, conducted in Q1 2026, consisted of 11 questions and was open to both members and non-members, with wider distribution through trade organisations.
The results provide useful insight, with key observations that highlight areas of potential opportunity. However, a larger sample size would be required before a comprehensive set of findings could be confidently extended across the entire UK industry.
The UK Furniture Industry Unsold Furniture Survey 2026 is available free to FIRA members here.
Non-members can purchase a copy from the FIRA Bookshop for £50.
