A summary of the key restricted substances associated with the most common types of materials present in children's furniture to help with the creation of product-specific Restricted Substances Lists (RSL) and the development of testing and compliance programmes
This guide will help those involved in the supply chains for children’s furniture understand how to comply with the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) Regulation.
For the substances that are listed in REACH Annex XVII then the previous documents in this series will outline the key parameters (M1 for upholstered Furniture and M2 for Mattresses). This matrix will highlight those aspects of the EN71 standards and the guidance given in CEN/TR 13387-2:2018 Child care articles – General safety guidelines - Part 2: Chemical Hazards.
Test methods have been included where they exist and where relevant, the matrix for which they were developed and verified.
