The Furniture Industry Research Association has today (9 January) published its annual ‘Statistics Digest for the UK Furniture Industry’. The 50 page publication covers the period from 2012-2015, alongside some provisional data and estimates for 2016.

Information for UK importers likely to be affected by the FLEGT-licensing regime

The EU’s Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade (FLEGT) Regulation establishes rules for the import of timber products covered by Voluntary Partnership Agreements (VPAs) between the EU and timber-exporting countries. Once VPAs are fully implemented, timber-exporting countries will issue FLEGT licences which verify the timber’s legality.

FEMB Technical Committee Meeting Report - September 2016

On Friday 16th September FIRA took part in the latest FEMB Technical Committee meeting in Milan, on behalf of the BCFA. The European Technical Committee[1] meets regularly as a cross-country team of experts to review European norms and standards and monitors proposed changes in regulation.

Consultation on updating Furniture and Furnishings Fire Safety Regulations

Flam regs review

FIRA was informed yesterday that the Government has re-started the consultation into a potential revision of the fire safety regulations for upholstered furniture. FIRA is currently analysing the proposals and will be arranging some workshops to discuss this further and to define the Furniture Industry Research Association’s response to the proposals.
