The Furniture Industry Research Association have published an expanded version of the guide entitled ‘Electrically actuated furniture for the domestic market - a guide to the UK Regulations’ which now includes a section on Electrically actuated furniture in kitchens.

New European Standard for Kitchen Furniture published

BS EN 1116: 2018 Furniture. Kitchen furniture. Coordinating sizes for kitchen furniture and kitchen appliance has now been published and replaces the 2004 version with immediate effect.

REACH - Potential Further Restriction of Formaldehyde

​Following a European Commission, ECHA has started preparing a restriction dossier on the use of formaldehyde and its releasers in articles and in mixtures in concentration <0.1% by consumers. ECHA has made an entry in the Registry of Intentions (RoI) with an anticipated submission date of 11 January 2019.

New 'Compliance Scheme for the Fire Performance of Upholstered Furniture'

The new Compliance Scheme has been in operation for a month, and the first two companies to gain Certified Company status are confirmed as retailers ScS and DFS. We're also hosting an event with Hertfordshire Trading Standards on 8 February so those from across the furniture supply chain can learn more about the new scheme.
