Cable Management Systems– Understanding BS 6396
To ensure the safety of the user, all cable management systems should conform to BS 6396:2008+A1:2015 – Electrical systems in office furniture and Educational Furniture – Specification. This standard describes the testing requirements for single phase electrical power distribution system in furniture operating at a rated voltage of 250V AC connected to the fixed wiring of the permanent installation of the building by a 13A fused plug and socket outlet conforming to BS 1363. The standard also explains requirements for routing of cables through the furniture.
