The Furniture Industry Research Association has released the first of its new guides to the General Product Safety Regulations.
The ‘GB General Product Safety Regulation Guide for the Furniture Industry’ is designed to help manufacturers and retailers navigate the GPSR's requirements in Great Britain.
Authored by Bruce Lovell, a Consultant at FIRA International (the service provider to the Furniture Industry Research Association), this 45-page guide aims to clarify these important regulations.

Topics covered by the guide include:

- Who does the GB GPSR apply to? With a close look at producers and distributors and their obligations
- Placing products on the market and making the product available
- How to assess products for safety, including risk assessments, reasonably foreseeable use/misuse, hazard marking and warnings
- Due Diligence, including reliance on third-party information
- Technical documentation - The Technical file
- Penalties and offences
- PAS 7100: 2022 Product recall and other corrective actions. Code of Practice
