‘More than a test house’ - FIRA International hosting webinar to inspire and take attendees on a virtual tour
FIRA International, the service provider to the Research Association, are hosting a 45 minute webinar on Friday September 11, at 11am, under the theme ‘More than a test house’. The interactive session plans to give delegates a number of ‘I didn’t know that’ moments as FIRA International takes them on a journey through their day-to day activities.
The webinar will start with a very brief explanation as to the differences between FIRA International and the Furniture Industry Research Association, as although both organisations share extremely close ties – they are separate entities, with very different objectives in supporting the furniture sector. This will then set the scene for the webinar.
FIRA Service Technicians is the first virtual ‘tour’ of the webinar. Delegates will gain an understanding of the furniture inspection and repair process when technicians enter a consumer’s home. Delegates can take part in a ‘spot the repair’ section – to see whether they can guess what area of a product has been repaired, followed by virtual inspections where they can review the service technicians outcome to determine if a product has no fault, needs a repair or should be replaced.
This will be followed by the ergonomics experts who will be offering an insight into how ergonomics is part of everyday life, examining how people may not be aware of this. The team will also myth bust the common misnomer that sitting bolt upright is the optimum seated posture.
Next on the agenda is the consultancy team, who will be sharing some of the more unusual queries they have received over the last 12 months and what the solutions were, hosting a short quiz on the scope of the EU Timber Regulation – with some surprising omissions and highlighting some of their recent research.
Finishing with the testing team, delegates will get the chance to see and understand various products on test, from more ‘usual’ home and contract furniture, through to giant deckchairs often seen on piers. A brief overview will also be shared for the most common tests for safety, durability, stability and flammability and why these are key to the industry.
The webinar will conclude with an open Q&A session, either based on the topics covered, or giving delegates the chance to ask the experts technical queries relating to their organisation.
