The British Furniture Confederation (BFC) recently attended a meeting with the Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) Productivity Review Team. This was in response to the Government's recent Industrial Strategy white paper, which identified that productivity in the UK is 16.3% lower than the average for the rest of the G7 countries.

The British Furniture Confederation were approached for its views on productivity within the furniture industry.

The meeting notes, available below to members of the Furniture Industry Research Association, cover background to the meeting, three key areas BEIS have identified to increase productivity (leadership, technology and business support) and how the structure and nature of the furniture industry can work for and against an increase in productivity.
