On Friday 7 July, FIRA International hosted the Furniture Makers’ Company ‘Young Professionals Industry Experience’ group. The group, which was launched in 2014 offers a programme for graduates and young professionals who aspire to become leaders within the furnishing industry.
The visit to FIRA International was part of the 5 week intensive programme for the four candidates, which includes a visit to 17 organisations in total across the furniture industry.
Phil Reynolds, General Manager at FIRA International, hosted the group and focused the visit on the importance of furniture product testing, not only for providing reassurance to customers, but also against meeting mandatory safety requirements, and as an insight into the performance and durability of a product when it is being used.
The group then had a tour of FIRA’s UKAS-accredited testing laboratory to see first-hand the process involved in testing products for the domestic and contract markets to various standards.
