Feedback on proposed standards revisions

The British Standards Institute are considering revisions to two standards and are asking for input from the industry. Both comment periods end on 15 October 2021.

EN 15185 2011 - Furniture - Assessment of the surface resistance to abrasion

New surface designs like e.g. high transparent lacquers e.g. with the Hotcoating procedure on melamine faced boards are on the market. The current description of the abrasion test for transparent lacquers is not suitable for these new designs. The test procedure has to be modified.

EN 15186 2012 - Furniture - Assessment of the surface resistance to scratching

It is planned to modify the description of the calibration/check of the scratch tip of procedure A. This is necessary to improve the reproducibility of the test method and to decrease the effort for the calibration process.
