On Friday, 13 February, we proudly celebrated an extraordinary milestone: 40 years of dedicated service from one of the furniture industry’s most respected and influential figures, Levent Caglar.

For four decades, ergonomics and human factors expert Levent has been recognised for his deep expertise, tireless work ethic, and unwavering commitment to improving the safety, comfort, and usability of furniture worldwide. His generosity in sharing knowledge, combined with his genuine care for people, has made him not only a leading authority but also a trusted mentor and collaborator to so many across the industry.

As a convenor or lead expert on numerous national and international committees, Levent has played a pivotal role in shaping the standards that guide the industry across the UK, Europe, and beyond. His research and technical insight have directly influenced the design, development, and evaluation of countless products. His rare ability to unite experts—often with differing perspectives—and drive meaningful progress remains one of his greatest strengths.
