British Standard for Storage Furniture withdrawn

FIRA can announce that at the end of July 2016 BSI withdrew the following British Standard:

BS 4875-8:1998 Furniture. Strength and stability of furniture. Methods for determination of stability of non-domestic storage furniture

The reason for the withdrawal of the British Standard is that a European Standard now exists covering the same products, and conflicting standards cannot be in existence at the same time. The European Standard that has superseded BS 4875-8 is:

BS EN 16121:2013 Non-domestic storage furniture. Requirements for safety, strength, durability and stability
