Trading Standards Institute highlights The Furniture Ombudsman for Inspiring Consumer Confidence in Furniture Industry

The Furniture Ombudsman, are to be in the spotlight at the national Trading Standards Institute Conference this week (21-23 June).

The annual conference, which brings hundreds of local and central government professionals together who have an interest in trading standards and consumer affairs in the UK, will feature a film highlighting the work of The Furniture Ombudsman.

The aim of the film is to explain The Furniture Ombudsman service, and demonstrate how the organisation exists to inspire consumer confidence by improving standards within the furniture industry.

Kevin Grix, barrister and Head of the Furniture Ombudsman said, "We are really pleased that TFO will be presented to the delegates of the TSI conference through our film. By highlighting our service at the Trading Standards Institute conference, we can encourage those working within consumer affairs and trading standards to spread the word that TFO exists to assist both the consumer and the furniture industry."

The presentation of The Furniture Ombudsman film at the conference is a great opportunity for the furniture industry, explaining how furniture retailers have committed to inspiring consumer confidence by pledging to abide by a code of conduct as part of their TFO membership.

The Furniture Ombudsman is becoming increasingly well-known, with more and more consumers contacting the Ombudsman before making big ticket purchases.
Kevin Continued, "More than ever consumers want to ensure they are spending their money wisely.  We often get calls from consumers before they buy an item asking if the retailer is a member of The Furniture Ombudsman. When buying from a TFO member, consumers can rest assured that in the unlikely occurrence of a problem with the piece of furniture arises; the problem will be dealt with as smoothly as possible - a win-win for all involved."

TFO offer a variety of services to the furniture industry, including a legal advice line, a range of legal courses, and also an independent dispute resolution service.
