Head of The Furniture Ombudsman becomes Freeman of the WCFM

Kevin Grix, Head of The Furniture Ombudsman, has been welcomed as a Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Furniture Makers (WCFM).

The WCFM work to promote and develop the design, making and selling of furniture in the United Kingdom, and its marketing worldwide. This complements the aim of The Furniture Ombudsman (TFO) who seek to raise the standards of the furniture industry and inspire consumer confidence in furniture manufacturers and retailers.

Kevin studied to be a barrister at the Inns of Court School of Law in High Holborn London before being called to the Bar by the Honourable Society of the Inner Temple in 2008. He is now responsible for directing the activities of The Furniture Ombudsman. TFO offers impartial and independent dispute resolution service for both consumers and UK furniture manufacturers and retailers. Kevin is also professionally qualified by the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.

Commenting on his appointment, Kevin said "The City Livery Companies have a distinguished reputation and I am honoured to have been given the freedom of the Furniture Makers Company.  I am looking forward to supporting them and the many positive things that they do, and stand for.  They place a heavy emphasis on the importance of training and education which is something very close to my own heart, especially in my role at The Furniture Ombudsman."

The Furniture Ombudsman offers a range of customer service and consumer law training courses for those in the furniture industry. Approaching courses include topics such as 'Consumer law in practice and recent consumer credit changes" and also "Customer service and understanding home improvement complaints". The courses are held at TFO's Stevenage-based head office.
