The FIRA Gold Installation Certification process

The assessment, evaluation and ultimate certification is carried out by a third party, FIRA International Ltd (FIRA), the standards body for the furniture industry. FIRA has 60 years of experience in furniture research and is committed to the development of the UK furniture industry. FIRA has experts representing the UK on all appropriate British, European and International furniture standards and regulatory committees.

What is involved in the Certification of your installation service?

There are two stages to the FIRA Gold Installation Certification scheme.

Stage one

Stage one is the pre-audit process to ensure that systems are in place to achieve the FIRA Gold Installation Certification and this includes: 

-  Installation Manual - this becomes the set of standards that each of your installers will subscribe to. It will cover current legislation, working practises

-  Internal Auditing - FIRA will review all documentation regarding installation visits and evidence of procedures. Where necessary FIRA will take you through the steps to put adequate systems in place

-  Fitter Induction Programme - review of procedures and documentation for induction of new fitters

-  Customer complaint file - review of documentation and evidence of procedures for dealing with complaints

-  Pre-audit visits - final check on the service you provide to your customers

-  External audit documentation - agree on FIRA audit documentation to be used, and action to be taken by your company on any issues/non-conformities raised

Stage two

Stage two is the ongoing audit to achieve FIRA Gold Installation Certification and covers:

- Audit of installation: a FIRA expert will accompany your installation manager and audit a selected number of installations. This ensures that the installation manager fully implements the procedures to achieve a quality installation. FIRA will provide audit reports and feedback to you.
