Club 18001 is FIRA’s sector specific scheme designed to keep busy companies informed of all current and impending Health and Safety legislation. With an industry recorded as having one of the worst machinery accident records of any sector and the growing legal awareness of employees supported by the introduction of ‘no win no fee’ compensation claims, the scenario is potentially very costly.

Owing to this poor safety record, the industry has been specifically targeted by the Health and Safety Executive which is concentrating on legal compliance especially with regard to wood dust levels, woodworking machinery training, manual handling and noise exposure.
