Register with The Furniture Ombudsman


‘The sign of fair trading in the furniture industry’

The Furniture Ombudsman is essentially a registration-based organisation whose aim is to promote quality and customer care in the furniture industry.

We offer a range of registration packages including Small Business Registration, Full Registration and Associate Registration for allied trades.

Who is eligible to register? All bone-fide companies, partnerships and sole traders in the furniture, floorcoverings, and allied trades are entitled to apply provided that they agree to abide by the Code of Practice and Rules of Registration. Typically such registrants may be retailers, upholsterers, manufacturers and other suppliers to the industry.

Rules of Registration
Small Business Registration

Businesses associated with the furniture industry with a gross turnover of less than £1 million per annum are eligible to register for less than 50p a day.

Flat rate £15 per month (payable monthly by direct debit)

Small business registration is taken out on a monthly basis, and can be terminated on a month’s notice - although we are sure that once you see the benefits of registering, you’ll want to continue.

Full Registration

Businesses with a gross turnover of more than £1 million per annum can register with The Furniture Ombudsman as a full member. An annual registration fee of £100, plus a subscription based on the amount of turnover.

Annual registration fee of £100 + 7.2p per £1000 gross turnover (or minimum £80)

This ensures that the cost of registration fairly represents the size of your business. Our registration runs on a rolling basis.

Associate Registration

Companies that provide either financial or other services to the industry are eligible to register with The Furniture Ombudsman as an associate member.

Annual registration fee of £100 + Annual Subscription (see below for rates)

Annual Subscription rates:
Turnover < £1 million - £250
Turnover £1-5 million - £500
Turnover £5 million > - £750
