The Furniture Ombudsman Consultants


The Furniture Ombudsman offers an on-site inspection service that is available to both registered members and non-registered members, either as a stand-alone service or as part of the adjudication process.

Independent consultants instructed by The Furniture Ombudsman carry out inspections and give opinion on typical furniture and furnishing complaints, including kitchen and bathrooms.

The purpose of the consultant’s visit is to assess the conditions of the product and to ensure that s/he has a full understanding of the complaint so that the report can suggest a solution (possibly a recommendation for cost effective repair) and provide technical advice. The consultant may need to confirm whether the goods supplied correspond with the description, their safety, fitness for purpose and, in general terms, whether they are of satisfactory quality. The consultant’s report is not intended to be a comprehensive survey but an appraisal of the specific issues relevant to the complaint.
