Consultant Ergonomist

FIRA International Ltd is the leading technical consultancy in the furniture and furnishing sector with a widely respected brand and a reputation for excellence. The Ergonomics consultancy, a division of FIRA, has a global reputation in providing ergonomic solutions for blue chip organisations including Audi, Nat West Bank, HSBC PWC, Orangebox, FT to name but a few. They also develop the latest European and International Standards and approve many of the industry’s most cutting edge products with the Ergonomic Excellence Award.

Due to expansion we are looking for an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team. You will lead a wide range of projects which are technically based and commercially focused for our expanding client base.

The successful candidate will have experience of delivering ergonomic and human factor solutions for either within your own organisation or on a consultancy basis.

The ideal candidate will be:

• Self starter, flexible with both flair and creativity
• Commercial aware and be able develop relationships across the industry
• Have excellent communication skills
• Able to travel both in the UK and overseas

A graduate ergonomist, ideally registered with ergonomics society, you will be technically proficient, matched with enthusiasm and a can-do approach.

Award Sales Development Manager

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Certification/Award Sales/Development Manager for FIRA International.

The job purpose is to sell and develop FIRA’s range of Awards/Certification schemes with the aim of delivering profitable growth of the business in line with the current 5 year plan.

The key duties/responsibilities for this role include:

• To work with a multi-disciplinary team of commercial and operation staff across FIRA
  
• Manage sales process, draw up on-going plans to promote FIRA’s certification and award schemes
  
• Maintain and develop personal relationships with existing and new customers
  
• Review activities and plans on a regular basis
  
• Ensue effective liaison and feedback with all those that ‘need to know
  
• Provide costed proposals into the annual budget

You will need to have excellent organisation skills, work effectively as part of a team and use your own initiative to take responsibility to prioritise and manage tasks.

Flammability Expert  

We have an exciting opportunity for a consistent and accurate individual to join our team as a Flammability Expert for FIRA International.

The job purpose is to become the expert in flammability in relation to furniture and deliver this knowledge and expertise to the industry and it’s stakeholders via paid services and behalf of the membership of FIRA.

The key duties/responsibilities for this role include:

• Lead and manage relevant projects
• Acquire and update technical knowledge and expertise associated with flammability
• Represent the industry on standards and committees
• Prepare and deliver related consultancy and training events

You will need to degree qualified in the relevant technical discipline, have excellent organisation skills, work effectively as part of a team and use your own initiative to take responsibility to prioritise and manage tasks.

Health, Safety and Environment Consultant

An addition to our established Consultancy team is required to provide advice and support to companies in the furniture and woodworking industries.  You will maintain a legal update service, undertake assessments and audits and contribute to the expansion of the services offered by the team.

You should be an enthusiastic self-starter with good interpersonal skills and be willing to help drive and define this evolving role. Ideally the candidate will have a NEBOSH certificate and be willing to progress toward Full IOSH Membership. A good understanding of Health, Safety and Environmental Legislation in manufacturing industries is necessary and some experience with environmental management systems would be preferred.

Although based at company headquarters in Stevenage, travelling throughout the UK will be involved so a flexible approach to work and a full driving licence is required.

Salary will be competitive and negotiable dependant on qualifications and experience. Benefits include contributory pension scheme and private health care insurance after a qualifying period of employment.

Project Manager

FIRA International Ltd’s success is based on our ability to research, create, develop and deliver new technologies and services within the furniture supply chain.  To enhance this unique position we are seeking a dynamic individual with scientific and technical capabilities combined with project management skills.

You will initially be responsible for working on our patented medium density fibreboard (MDF) recycling technology, which is nearing commercial completion and for developing technologies and markets for recycled wood fibres.  In addition you will be expected to work within our small but focussed technical team to develop and manage projects that will deliver profitable opportunities both for our own business and for our clients.

You will have a good honours degree or equivalent in a scientific, environmental or engineering discipline and are likely to have a post-graduate qualification or relevant industrial experience.  The ability to prepare project bids and to operate within a team environment will also be essential requisites.
