FIRA & Bucks University Furniture Courses

FIRA has joined forces with Buckinghamshire New University to create three new furniture-related courses.

The courses form the bases of a partnership designed to combine technical expertise to benefit individuals within the industry.

Furniture Design - 16 September 2010

An introduction to the subject of design within the Furniture Industry, including exercises to reinforce the issues raised and give a greater involvement in the subject.  Topics covered include de-mystifying design, the language of design, critical methods, furniture and market.

Forest to Furniture - 23 September 2010

An informative introduction to the various aspects of timber, timber based products and their use in the furniture manufacturing industry.  This course will encompass timber technology, timber based products, problems, faults and construction.

Surface Finishing in the Furniture Industry - 30 September 2010

Through lectures and practical handling sessions this course will educate delegates on standards and regulations, understanding the products available and the surface to be coated, product handling, safe application, problems and possible remedies.

These one-day courses, held at Buckinghamshire New University in High Wycombe, will benefit all individuals working in the furniture industry.  The delegate rate for FIRA Members is £325+VAT and for non-members £355+VAT.
