ECOLABEL for textiles
FIRA can announce that the new application pack for the European ECOLABEL for textiles is now available. The ECOLABEL is an EU backed scheme to offer valuable endorsement to manufacturers of environmentally friendly textiles and textile products. The criteria were revised last year to reflect changes in environmental issues.
FIRA feels that the ECOLABEL criteria is biased against UK products covered by the Furniture & Furnishings (Fire) (Safety) Regulations as it only allows for reactive fire retardants to be used, which severely limits the number of products that will qualify for the scheme.
