Sheila Draper
Sheila is FIRA's newest Board member, having been appointed to run The Association of Master Upholsterers & Soft Furnishers in summer 2011 alongside its move to High Wycombe. Prior to that she managed another trade association in London for almost 7 years and now she hopes to offer some of her knowledge and experience to both members' benefit and to the wider furnishing industry, whilst still representing crafters and technicians within the AMUSF.
Over a decade ago she worked for BM TRADA Certification as its marketing services manager and recalls sharing a bottle of "pink fizz" with her colleagues, whilst watching the 20th century's last UK total eclipse of the sun from a nearby field - a lifetime's opportunity as the next such eclipse isn't until 2090!
She has an academic background in law & marketing and she worked for Reed Elsevier publishing companies for many years on law, medicine, science and technology books and journals, in a variety of editorial and business development roles.
