How good school furniture can make a difference
Recent years have seen major investment in education, but school furniture design has changed little post-war. The present climate of change and development in the education sector offers great opportunities to manufacturers, suppliers and specifiers.
There are currently only a limited number of standards for furniture in public sector school tenders. Detailed specification of furniture and equipment is often extremely vague, and there is no standard agreement promoting quality, longevity or procurement.
This need not be the case.

This document aims to stimulate specifiers to question the current methods used to select furniture and the rationale behind decisions made. At the same time, a collective approach is needed between designers, educators, manufacturers and specifiers to ensure furniture chosen today continues to suit tomorrow's schools.
